Minnesota – not smooth.

After suffering through a nasty storm in South Dakota the other day, I got curious about wind patterns in the United States. As I was reading up on the subject, it seems that Minnesota is one of the many places in the Unites States where the wind patterns really suck in terms of being able to generate electricity from wind turbines. I thought that was an interesting tidbit, considering that on the drive back from South Dakota, I had to drive through the lower part of Minnesota and noticed that the countryside was littered with those turbines.

Now, why the hell would you construct a bunch of 400′ tall wind turbines in a place where the wind won’t actually turn them all that much?

It gets worse. Apparently, they don’t really work in the winter either. Sigh…
